Patrick Keith Blume (79), beloved husband, dad, and grandpapa, passed away suddenly in his home on April 15, 2024. He was three days shy of his 80th birthday.
Patrick will be dearly missed by his wife of sixty years, Candy; his daughters, Karrie (Jesse) Blanchard and Heidi (Bill) Chapman; his son, Erich; his four grandchildren, Nick (Vanessa) Chapman, Annette (Andrew) Gomes, Steven Hinch, and Kristin Hinch; his four great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sherry (Mike) Vaughn and Mary Alcorn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was born in Spokane on April 18, 1944, and was a lifetime resident of the Foothills area in Spokane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dakota Blume; and two brothers, Harold G. Blume and Russell Blume.
Pat graduated from East Valley High School in 1962. He was a member of the first graduating class there. He began working at Kaiser Aluminum in 1964 and held a variety of positions there in his thirty years of employment. His favorite was groundskeeper-which reflected his passion for nature. Pat retired from Kaiser in 1994, yet continued to meet weekly for coffee with many lifelong friends he met there.
After retiring, Pat and Candy enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii and made many happy memories there together. He loved the tropical flowers, the ocean, and the relaxed atmosphere.
Sharing his deep love and knowledge of nature with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, while exploring the woods and ponds together brought him great joy. Pat had a wonderful sense of humor, a trait he would often say was the most important you can have in a happy life and marriage.
A Memorial Service and Reception will be held May 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA. To leave condolences for the family, visit www.hennesseyvalley.com.
